Yoga Apparel 2- Why Yoga Apparel Is Not Just For Yoga

Posted on: June 16, 2011

Yoga apparel is created for the purpose of being comfortable and staying put while practicing yoga. Generally this is accomplished by creating garments that are smooth, light, and loose with just a touch of cling. The slight stretch that allows the clothing to cling to the body allows for movement with the body without revealing things that should not be revealed during stretching and reaching. This type of clothing is not just for yoga, however. With some creativity and a little help, these clothes that are unmatched in comfort can go from day, to gym, to evening in the blink of an eye.

Take, for example, the basic tank tops and t-shirts. The fabric used to make yoga apparel is just stretchy enough to look a little dressier with the right accessories. The basic tops can be worn under suits or blazers to work. Add a simple gold chain and diamond studs and the look is completed. A convertible top that transforms from a halter, to one shoulder, to a tank with a simple twist of the straps can work even better. Wear as a halter under a suit to work, a tank for the gym, and a hot one shoulder top to hit the club scene at night.

Another option for wearing yoga apparel even when not practicing yoga is a one piece pants suit. The same theories apply, except that the pants are already included. Pair the pant suit with a blazer or hot denim jacket or cropped zebra print jacket as fits the occasion. Chunky accessories or fun scarves can complete the look effortlessly. The best part is this type of clothing is created to wick away sweat and moisture during exercising. This means that they will remain fresh through the day into the night, no matter what the day brings.

Allowing your yoga apparel to pull double duty is not only economical, as it requires less money spent on different types of clothing, it saves space and time as well. This type of clothing is great for leisure wear and sleep wear also. You would be hard pressed to find more comfortable pajamas than a pair of yoga pants and t-shirt. Lounge around reading or playing video games on the weekend in a pair of yoga capris and halter and be ready to look hot in a moment's notice if someone drops by unexpectedly. Yoga clothing really is a great way to stretch your wardrobe and your budget.
